Student life

Many of our students choose Bangor because of the small and friendly nature of the University and the town. Most of our buildings and halls are a short walk from the city centre.

The Students' Union, Undeb Bangor, offers a whole range of support, guidance and opportunities for students, such as volunteering. The Students’ Union also provides much of the focus for student activities and entertainment. You can try something new or get together with people who have the same interests as you. A major plus at Bangor is that student membership of the Students Union Clubs and Societies is free.

There’s no getting away from it – the location, the scenery and the surrounding area are amongst the reasons why many of our students choose to come to Bangor. As well as the many attractions of Snowdonia National Park, you can take time away from your studies by going on a relaxing stroll down Bangor pier, visit the beautiful beaches of Anglesey, or nearby historic towns and scenic villages.

With beautiful hills and coastlines to explore by foot, bike, surfboard or zipline, Wales offers a great student experience and a wide range of universities connected to their local communities.

The country has a little of everything – historic cities like Cardiff and Swansea, pretty coastal towns, and three national parks including Snowdonia, home to the highest mountain in Wales. If you love the outdoors, you’ll be right at home.

Wales has a long history of sporting achievement, literature, and history. Perhaps you'll hear some tales over some rarebit – a traditional dish that puts cheese on toast to shame.
